Exploring the North Shore: Waialua

July 20, 2019

On my way to Ka’ena Point, at a roundabout I saw a sign for a farmers market, so on my way to the next beach, I decided to stop by a see what they have. The sign brought me to the small coastal town of Waialua.

The parking lot was packed with visitors, but many of them were not at the farmer’s market. The market was really small and consisted of mostly food vendors.

However, in the same parking lot, was a surf shop, the Island Hawaii Factory Outlet Store, and the North Shore Soap Factory.

I quickly stopped by the small surf shop, then walked over to the outlet store and browsed around.

The Island Hawaii Factory Outlet Store

The store is a large factory building, filled to the brim with souvenir merchandise. The items inside were slightly cheaper than the ABC stores in Honolulu, but Dukes Marketplace was even cheaper. Inside the store, they even had free coffee samples!

Rows and Rows of souvenirs at the Island Hawaii Factory Outlet Store!

My favorite stop in this small town was the North Shore Soap Factory. It is inside a large teepee shaped building and hosts a small museum of soap making and a small shop.

The shop had so many different types of soaps, balms, and candles. I would have purchased something to help support a small business, but the soaps did not have a very strong aroma and it was hard for me to find one I liked.

Little duckies at the soap factory!

Waialua was such a neat little stop on my way to Bonzai Pipeline. I will save my post about Bonzai Pipeline until the end of my Hawaiian adventures. Stay tuned!
